This was a cool remix to work on, I’ve been heavily inspired by artists like Chee and Ivy Lab and I really wanted to take the original and add more spice and aggression. It came together quite fast and was having fun working with granular textures and leaving the ambience sparse so that the percussive synth lead could really shine.
“Konka's remix of Sullust & Mynxy's "Get Down" is a deep dive into the weird and the weightless. Drawing inspiration from the heavier end of halftime drum and bass, the rework takes the original's halftime foundation and pushes it into stranger, more unpredictable territory.
An off-kilter, staccato lead weaves across swung hip hop drums with an almost unsettling sense of rhythm, never quite landing where you expect it to. Granular processing fragments and glitches the original vocals, transforming them into an eerie textural element that ties the whole arrangement together. The result is a remix that honors the halftime spirit of the source material while dragging it somewhere altogether more abstract and otherworldly.”
